Colonel Russ Stromberg

Jet Pilot is hosted by Colonel Russ Stromberg, former commanding officer of the famous Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier Blacksheep Squadron (VMA-214). Col. Stromberg has flown numerous jet aircraft and was a Pilot for the YAV-8B Flight Test Program, the AV-8B Test and Evaluation Program, and a Harrier Flight Demonstration Pilot. He also helped design, develop, and test a shipboard approach lighting system for Harriers and helicopters that is installed on all of the Navy's helicopter carriers. In 1985 he received a national award for significant contributions to aircraft development. Throughout the video, Col. Stromberg answers questions posed by an inquisitive young girl and boy, who are fascinated by jets. He says "While I was a Harrier Demonstration Pilot, I spent many hundreds of hours talking to children and adults about jets and jet pilots. The questions and topics I discuss in Jet Pilot were distilled from my experiences with the public. The video gives everyone solid insight into what it takes to be a jet pilot, and how exciting it is to be one."
